The gardening show
Aug 6th, 2007 by Jonathon Moore
As promised I have returned and brought with me yet another post (aren’t I doing well?) I said in my last post that I would tell you all about what I did last Weekend, so that I will now do.
Last weekend was the Gardening show at the Llangollen Royal international pavilion. Now, I’m not really all that into gardening, although I do prefer mine to be neat and nice to sit in. But the main reason I was in attendance was to do with cadets. The ATC (Airborne Tactical Commandos…. or Air Training Corps, I forget which one) was asked to help by ferrying plants form the stalls to shoppers cars with their wheelbarrows, for doing this we were allowed to collect donations to go towards squadron funds.
Now that was all well and good but being the Best of all youth organizations we decided that we needed to put on a more interesting show for our public. A few carefully placed phone-calls to the right people later and we had a display by the Red Arrows organised… oh sorry Red Barrows! (Like the Red Arrows but a couple of hundred miles per hour slower, no smoke and with wheelbarrows instead of Hawks) The crowds came and at one point we had almost the entire show watching, we even managed to get Charlie Dimmock to sign RED1. Over the weekend there was plenty of time for fun photos and lots of money was raised, we even managed to sell off all of the non performing green wheelbarrows… also I got quite sun-burnt. Some photos here but lots more still to come, I’ll try and get them uploaded if I can (no promises though)
